What is the most Popular and Dominant Formation in Football?

In football, formations are used to define the general positioning of all players on the field of play, with the exception of the goalkeeper. The formations are grouped by three or four digits separated by hyphens, with the first and last number being zero. These numbers show the number of players in each row, starting with the players closest to the goalkeeper and progressing outward.

In football, the type of configuration used by a team is determined by a variety of criteria, such as the ability of the players available, the nature of the opposition, and the preferences of the club’s management. According to the match situation, formations are flexible and can be adjusted in the middle of a match if the formation and the positioning of players isn’t working out.

In the same way that football has evolved over time, football formations have changed as well. In the early years of the nineteenth century, defensive football was a completely unknown concept, and teams used to line up with as many as seven or eight forwards on the field. It’s common knowledge that professional athletes rank amongst the most competitive people on the track, in the ring and on the pitch. But few of us are aware of the growing number who are just as competitive on the casino floor.

Take Floyd Mayweather for instance. Whilst you’ve no doubt heard about the pro boxer’s perfect 50-0 record, you may not have heard of his nickname out in Las Vegas. Casino bosses on the strip know him as ‘Money’ for one simple reason: his ability to spend it.

Mayweather has no problem placing six-figure bets at the blackjack table, as the betting slip snaps he posts on social media prove. Back in 2016, he even hosted his own blackjack tournament out in the Bahamas. The top prize: $300,000.   Continue reading “Sports Legends Spotted in the Casino”

Will Leeds United make their Premier League return this season?

It has been more than 14 years since one of England’s biggest football clubs, Leeds United, were last in the Premier League – but could the 2018-19 season finally be the year that they make their return to the top flight?

Financial problems caused by mismanagement from chairman Peter Risdale left the Yorkshire club in a mess at the start of the Millennium, seeing Leeds reach the Champions League semi-finals to being relegated to the Championship within the space of three years.

Star players such as Rio Ferdinand, Robbie Keane, Harry Kewell, Jonathan Woodgate, Lee Bowyer, Olivier Dacourt and Nigel Martyn were all sold during their final two seasons in the Premier League with few replacements being brought in.

The Whites finished 15th in 2002-03 before being relegated the following season. Since then they have also spent three seasons in the third tier of English football, before bouncing back to the Championship. Continue reading “Will Leeds United make their Premier League return this season?”

In a summer transfer filled with big names like Bernd Leno, Lucas Torreira, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, and Stephan Lichtsteiner, Matteo Guendouzi was sort of a surprise transfer perhaps for many Arsenal fans, who probably have never heard of the young midfielder who has been likened a lot to Paris Saint-Germain’s Adrien Rabiot.

Guendouzi, who was 19 years of age at the time, rejected offers from big teams like Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund to sign for Arsenal, the team which is recommended by former Arsenal and Lorient striker Jeremy Aliadiere, and indeed his move to the London team has so far proved to be a correct decision.
